said... Ann, it's hard to tell from the pattern photo if the side seams are as shaped as the fashion illustration indicates. Does the waist nip in and is there a back seam? A couple of the sites that carry Stretch & Sew patterns don't have the back of the pattern envelopes scanned either (kind of aggravating as that is usually a truer pic of what's in the envelope than the fashion illustration).
Did you use wolly nylon in your bobbin when you used the twin needle? I usually loosen the top tension from setting 3 to 2 on my Elna when I use it. I'd like to see a picture of your outfit! 9/11/02 3:55 PM
said... Susan, I have made the pattern twice, a dress and a mock turtleneck top. You can see a picture of both in my review. Regarding the side seams, yes they are very nicely shaped. However there is no back seam. Both front and back are cut on the fold. Quick and Easy! 9/11/02 7:04 PM

I reduce the pressure foot pressure, and loosen the tension 2 numbers. I also make my stitch length 3 or 3.5 depending on the fabric. I made one outfit that I used the stitch length as long as it would go, and would have liked it even longer! The dress seams are shapely. If you needed a center back seam for fitting it would be easy to move the pattern away from the fold and make your alteration. One of the reasons I do not use S & S more is the lack of line drawings on the web site. I have called the company and asked advice in the past. The people I spoke with were always very helpful, so if you have a question about a pattern, you just might call them. There is not local retail outlet for S & S in my area, so my patterns are mail order. 9/11/02 11:11 PM
