Great review! We are all so spoiled by Kwik Sew that it's a surprise when one of their patterns isn't so great. You really did a great job of making it what it should be and it looks great.

Could the interfacing and such have contributed to the problem of it gaping open? In my experience, hobo bags aren't supposed to be interfaced at all - their floppiness is what makes them take their shape, much like a hammock. I may pick up this pattern and try it without any changes made, just to see how it works. Of course, I always feel the need to make my own assessment of the problem, which is difficult without detailed pictures. I'll probably be shooting myself in the foot (as a poor college student, I probably shouldn't), but I'll end up doing it anyway.
