said... That's a nice design. My favorite (rtw) workout pants have that same "negative ease" design and I plan to copy them. I was making a similar pair from a Burda pattern and I kept trimming more & more fabric off the elastic waistband to get them to look like my "negative ease" pants. :) 10/4/02 1:41 AM
said... Gigi, you've done it again. These are exactly like pants that my DD and I bought at the Gap a few years ago! I've been toying with the idea of copying them, since DD's are her cool weather lounging/studying uniform and if they wear out, she'll be running around that apartment with God-only-knows-what exposed... Thanks for finding the pattern for me! PS: The Gap pants are made of what I can only describe as a very stretchy sweatshirt kind of stuff that looks like French terry cloth inside. I saw something similar months ago at Hancock's. I think a beefy cotton/lycra knit would work well, too.

said... Gigi, you know you recommending a pattern is like Oprah recommending a book.:-) Looks like we'll all have to make room in our pattern stash for Simplicity now! 10/5/02 11:18 AM

Gigi, your pants look so good on you, like all your other clothes. 10/13/02 1:25 PM
said... I think I know what you mean but I'm not quite sure..Could you please explain what negative ease in waistband means. Thanks 10/13/02 1:38 PM
said... Peggy, that means I cut the waistband smaller than my measurements so that it would hug my body and help hold the pants up. 10/13/02 1:46 PM
said... Gigi, great pants! I have a pair I bought at Target for el cheapo price which I've lived in--perfect for pulling on to take Nelson to school until I can come home and dress for clients. This will save me the pain of copying that pair.
BTW, my RTW pair is made of a jersey, and the detailing is exactly as you chose to make yours (no surprise there).
And, I have found that since I started lowering the CF my pants fit so much better--no more extra fold of fabric at the waist. The lightbulb went on when I held up some of my RTW and noticed, as you comment above, that the front is indeed lower than the back.
Thanks for the review and the pic, they are darling
