I use this pattern a lot for the shell, but have had the same problem with the front being too wide. I keep narrowing the front but haven't gotten to where it really fits yet. There is an article in the September issue of Threads magazine with a slightly different (and more complicated) solution for narrow upper chest. I tend to have this same problem with Vogue patterns. Recently I made a Burda top and simply cut a smaller size above the bust, which worked well.
