Cute top. I'm impressed you found anything for £5 a metre at John Lewis :)

Looks great, I didn't think a top as such was good for us busty ladies, but wow it looks fantastic and fits wonderfully. You gave me the inspiration to try a pattern as such! tks!

Gorgeous print. Could you explain a little more about the bust dart? Since there's already a dart in the bodice piece, did you add a second one? Maybe I should be reading your link cause I think I might need to do this too.

Wow, your top turned out beautifully! I have tried getting away without an FBA too-lol-it rarely works :o) Good thing you bought plenty of fabric!

Milwaukee_kelly, I kept the vertical dart which is already in the pattern and I added a horizontal dart, going from the side seam towards the bust point. When you cut and "open up" the pattern to give the extra length and width you need for a larger bust, the result is that the front pattern piece is longer than the back. If you click on the link and go to the bottom of the instructions (section entitled "sewing line"), Kathleen Cheetham shows you how to add a horizontal dart which makes the front piece the same length as the back (while leaving the extra fabric in front to cover your bust) so you can match up the side seam. I'm not saying this is the best method but it seemed to work for me.

Helen, you definitely aren't going to get a top to fit with out a FBA. But this is SUCH a nice pattern. It doesn't at all give the "when are you due" impression, and is a style that is great for almost any age range. I might have to get this. (I wonder if it will work as well with a SBA? )
