I found this definition of Tap pants: "Tap pants take their name from their function--they are a shorts worn by tap dancers, especially while practicing their routines. I don't mind a little padding, think of it as much the same as the fleece and interfacing we use in tailoring to help garments keep their shape. Anyway, I found this link today as I was working my way from one sewing site to the next. The author of this blog is a bra maker who explains some of the needs of the A cup or smaller. You will find the section on this topic about 1/3 down, but the rest in also interesting.>>>
