fuzzygalore said... Ah, I've been thinking of this pattern too, so I'm glad to see it reviewed by someone my size :-)... Your plaid looks very cool, a good thing in these hot times! It looks on the pattern photo like there's almost a v-neck under that collar, but that effect is almost not there on your picture. Is that a picture artefact, or do you feel like the collar does sit fairly low on the neck? Thanks for the review! 7/30/06 2:59 PM
Elaray said... Fuzzy - I wouldn't call this a v-neck. It must be just an idiocyncrasy of the Burda photo. The model has a long slender neck and mine is short and stumpy :-) 7/30/06 3:22 PM

Celeste said... I'm really glad I read your review as I have this pattern and was going to use it with some Hawaiian Kona print fabric I have. I didn't even notice the collar was rounded so this will give me something to think about. But it looks very nice and I may just go ahead and use it rounded!! Nice job!! 7/30/06 6:17 PM

Aless said... Many thanks,Elaray.I asked for this to be reviewed as I've had it for a while.I too thought the neckline was 'dropped' and as I have a short, thick neck, I would have had a surprise! Also hadn't noticed the rounded collar. Glad to find a quick'n'easy shirt for our summer coming. 8/2/06 4:47 AM

I made this top recently, and mine DOES have a lower neckline, much like the photo. That was the main draw for this pattern, and I am quite happy with the result. 8/2/06 5:53 PM
Elaray said... LizK - I guess I really need to lose weight -- especially in my neck!! A lower neck would have been an interesting element and I would have liked it. I didn't make any design changes to the neckline. For some reason, mine didn't turn out that way. 8/3/06 7:51 AM
Diana Hilliard said... I have recently sewn this pattern, and I was very pleased with the results. I have shied away from Burda because I once read that they were designed for the European woman: thin and not very busty. I realize now that this is anything but the truth. I was thrilled not to have to mess around with bust adjustments: the pattern coped with my "overabundance" very well and the pattern dart was even in the right place! (what a concept!!)
I can't comment on the collar shape, since I made a sort of mandarin collar instead. It sat rather wider than I had expected, but works okay. Would the differences in people's experience actually be due to button placement? 9/6/06 8:56 PM
