Janime said... The placket part is a little challenging. I had to read the instructions for it about 5 times and stare at the pattern for a while. It was rather like following origami instructions.
That said, I'm a beginner so I usually have at least one thing in a pattern that hangs me up for a little while.
Try it out on a muslin. Then the worst that can happen is you end up with a few new dust rags :) 10/28/06 7:50 AM

The one thing I didn't like about the front placet, it that they have you make the buttonholes early in the process, before you even sew the shoulder seams. I prefer to try on my blouse and place the buttonholes strategically. Thanks for a good review. 10/28/06 8:17 AM

Janime said... I added the width to the edges using the pivot and slide method.
I have RTW tops that are similar to this style, and I definitely have problems with fitting in the arms. If the top fits everywhere else, then I get sausage arms. If I get the top to fit the arms, then it's really baggy elsewhere, especially in the bust area.
That's one thing I really like about doing it myself; I get to make changes to suit me. :) 10/29/06 11:23 AM

You could maybe attach the front to the back first, then do the sleeves, then the placket, then the collar. You wouldn't be able to try it on with the collar, but otherwise, you could check for fit first before putting the button holes in. 10/29/06 11:30 AM
