You managed to get quite a good fit in the back. What's left of the diagonal wrinkles isn't that bad. For your next pair, I'd suggest moving the pantleg inward 3" rather than 1.5", as you suggest. Then I'd baste both the inner and outer leg seams to check the fit. It seems like you might have too much ease through the seat, which you should be able to pinch out until you get the ease and hang you like. The pants you made are certainly wearable, but you can look forward to improving the fit with each try and once you figure out how to adjust this pattern, you can do the same to any pattern with similar results.
