Donna H said... Those are the cutest skirts!! I love all of them....wondering if they'd look good in MY size??? Hmmm.
As far as the drawstring...some patterns say to stitch through the drawstring and side seam casings. That way you anchor the ribbon at the side seams and are only able to tighten towards the front. If they're only decorative....just anchor them at the drawstring front hole. Does that help???? VERY cute skirs. Great review, thank you!

You could use a smaller piece of ribbon and loop it through both holes instead of going all the way around the waist. You could also think about leaving the patch edges unfinished and let them fray or pink the edges. The whole de-constructed look is very popular! 11/29/06 3:27 PM

The skirt has an elastic waistband so I think the drawstring is more decorative than anything else.
The instructions say to stitch the elastic to the side seams of the casing. After the casing is attached to the skirt, the ribbon is then strung through the casing (on top of the elastic) but the instructions don't mention stitching the ribbon to anything.
In the future, I will probably just sew the midpoint of the ribbon directly to the middle of the elastic before closing the casing. That way, the ribbon will still be both functional and decorative and I don't have to worry about it coming out. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself earlier!! Either that or I'll just use a smaller ribbon and loop the bow around the holes. Thanks again for your help. 11/29/06 4:50 PM
