Hey: glad i'm not the only one to enjoy making this hat. I've made lots of them. They do get easier, the more you make of them. I'd suggest a stretchy velveteen for another one. It gives it a great look.

The gathering is difficult if you try to gather the whole hat. But, if you do 2 panels at a time, it's a whole lot easier. Plus, then you can decide which panels go to the front of the cap. (I mean to do the whole hat, but gather only 2 panels in each set of gathering threads. Am I being clear? no, not really, I'm sorry. I hope you know what I mean.)
