This pattern has been around for a while, and I don't think the 90's drop shoulder styling works too well with today's more fitted looks in t-shirts. Probably you are right about it being better for a sweater knit top than a t-shirt.

According to the pattern envelope, interlock would not be a good choice for this pattern. You need fabric with 2-way stretch and some lycra for elasticity. Better luck next time you use the pattern.
