I made this pattern and I love to wear them. They were so easy to make. They are flattering and take pounds off my figure. They are very comfortable and look great with boots. They're a nice compromise between stretch slacks and a skirt. Hemming using a double needle and turning the hem under 1/4" gives me a nice clean un-puckered finish. I don't have a serger either. I guess it depends on the knit. | | * * * | | Mini | 1/25/07 | Thanks for the reminder about this pattern-I need to get around to making these. It looks like you found a personal classic that you can use over and over-always a great feeling! Regarding the pucker problem, I think if you sew some test seams on swatch before doing the real project, you will be able to adjust the tension to get rid of it. But if it disappears when you wash the garment, why worry? It's just a small glitch that nobody else is ever going to know about:). | | * * * | | COH | 1/25/07 | I have these gauchos on today! I made then in a matte jersey. I'm never very happy with the hems of my knits, so I have just been using Steam a Seam and eliminating the stitching. These are so comfortable. I'm wearing a plum color today, and plan to go home tonight and sew them up in khaki. You did a great job. | | * * * | | RuthieK | 1/26/07 | I love gauchos (or culottes as mine were called in the 80's) and I'm sooo glad they are back in fashion. great review encorages me to sew some for myself. | | * * * | |
