These shirts look great and I really like the bear on the loden one. I can't see the one with the cardinal very well. If your husband gets too hot, it might be that polar fleece. If you went with cotton, he might like that even better. He is lucky to have a wife that will sew for him.

Nice shirts. The embroidery & applique really make them special. Thanks for the tip on the pocket; that sounds like a great idea for finished looking fleece pockets. I've also used the wrong-side of fleece for a subtle contrast.
