Oooo, love your fabric! I also like your idea of a facing. Seems like they're easier in the end, and look nice, too.

Great top--that fabric with the blue and brown is awesome!

dctalktx, your top is lovely. I have been thinking of making this top, but have hesitated because I am full in the bust. I was afraid the elastic under the bust would accentuate an already full bust. Since you've made the top, what do you think?

Great top! Proof that a simple top with awesome fabric stands out.

I like how with this top you can use a knit or a woven. Love your fabric choice. As to one of the other comments, as I understand it, empire waists are not good for women with no bust so I assume, they are OK for women with big busts as long as it's not too tight and enough fabric is allowed to move over the bust area.

Very pretty top. I've thought about making this top, but was concerned that since the area under the bust was slightly gathered that it might have a maternity top look on a plus size. Apparently not, so I may have to try it.

Wow! This looks great! I have this pattern, and the fact that yours looks so good has made me to decide to make it next. Thanks for the tip about the casing. Hmmm...I'm wondering if narrow (1/2" before folding) FOE might work well on a nearly 1:1 ratio? I'll give it a try and let you know!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I am full busted, too and the gathering does not seem to be a problem. I would not have made this because of the gathering under the bust but I bought a ready made top that was gathered under the bust becuase it was much more flattering than I thought it would be. I think the neckline helps this top not accentuate the bust too much.

Very pretty in your fabric choice.

Yes the bias tape is hard with the light fabric. Try making bias tape from the fabric or serge the edges and roll them with a topstitch.

Your top looks beautiful! I like your idea for a neck facing too.
