I had to do the same thing a few weeks ago for career day at my daughters' school. Two of them wanted to be veterinarians and wanted lab coats. If I had had this pattern, I would have done the same as you! Instead, I lengthened a jacket pattern out of one of my Ottobre mags. Same idea, though. I love how be a sewist allows us the flexibility to create what we want/need out of the materials at hand. Very nice work!
