I think the jacket looks quite nice - not meaning to be a fabric snob but for tailoring perhaps a natural fabric such as wool/linen/silk would give you better results. For whati t's worth if my first try at a tailored jacket had turned out like yours I would have been extremely pleased!!

I agree with clin - this is a really good result for a first jacket. For getting rid of the lobster claw effect (which I have seen and cursed many times in my own sewing room), try bowing the stitching line on those 2 short seams out (towards cut edge) ever so slightly. The other thing I do every time I make a jacket is to compare the sewn seams, walking from point to point along the collar and lapels, before pressing (i.e. do this from the wrong side). This will pick up problems like uneven lengths, and sometimes also points out unevenness in the shaping in the curve of a lapel too.

You could not have picked a more difficult fabric for your jacket. I think you should be pleased with your results and try with a more amenable fabric the next time. Great job!

Natural fibers are easier to work with on tailored items. If Shannon Gifford does her online class here again on speed tailoring, I highly recommend it.

That is a pretty fabric, very cute but poly is a difficult choice for anything tailored. I wouldn't rule out trying this pattern again for yourself. You look to have learned a lot and accomplished a lot. The lobster claw effect isn't all bad, just different. (I loved the speed tailoring class that Stefanie mentioned.)

Really a nice effort with difficult fabric. I purchase wool for my suits at Fabric Mart online and pay $6 a yard on sale for lovely quality fabric. Wool is very forgiving when sewing - don't give up on this pattern. You really did a nice job and should congratulate yourself! Hang in there. Suits are a lot of work but well worth it.
