Elona said... That's a lovely jacket. oh Beginner-Person! You are to be commended on your workmanship, your perseverance, and your very complete review.
It sounds as though you may have picked a size just a tad too large. New Look is multisized, and I'm betting you could have traced off a smaller size for your shoulders and then tapered out to a larger one for the nether portions of your bod, as needed.
Nevertheless, you got a super result. Congratulations. 3/29/07 9:02 PM

AnneM said... Congratulations!!! We were all there (raw beginners) once. Patterns often seem to run on the large size; as already mentioned don't hesitate to take advantage of multiple sizes for one garment. Your coat looks very nice in the picture. (Also - although it sounds like you are doing great - Kwik-Sew and Simplicity sewing for Dummies tend to explain things mroe than other patterns, so if you feel like you want some clearer directions you might want to try one of those.) And yes, if you keep going someday someone will ask you where you bought that lovely garment that you made. 4/9/07 8:57 AM

Your review is nice and thorough as well, full of lots of "gotcha" points that can help others who undertake this pattern. Keep up the good work and reviews. PS. I've been sewing for over 30 years, and I still savour those moments of getting to say "I made it" and the oohs and aahs that go with it! Enjoy!! 4/28/07 2:25 AM
