Deepika said... Gigi, nice review. Unfortunately I did not have a good experience with Eruros. I also used size medium but they were huge on me. Gigi is right about the zipper instructions also. I think most sewers who like this pattern have modified the fly to the standard 1 1/4". Reading reviews of this pattern is a must before sewing it up! I got tons of tips. Looking forward to your photo... 1/15/03 11:46 AM

I think I'll start with the other view because it will be more forgiving of my holiday execesses! Looking forward to the picture! 1/15/03 2:40 PM
Diane E said... Hey, Gigi, these pants look fabulous! Do you know that I've never made the fly-front version? I have about four million pairs of the pullons, and it's about time for me to get working on a pair of woven Euros! Thanks for your very detailed and helpful review. 1/15/03 4:53 PM

Gigi Louis said... Kitty - you might try the Sewing Place or Pattern Showcase (I think PS has a flat postage rate overseas). I really like Loes' patterns. They are very simple in design but with subtle shaping. 1/15/03 5:57 PM

sewnew said... Gigi, great looking pants. I'm interested in getting the pattern for this and the cowl top but are they too advanced for a beginner? Only have made elastic pants so far. 1/15/03 9:48 PM

Deepika said... Gigi, from the photo it seems the pants really fit you well! They look exactly like the envelope photo! In mine, I felt it had too much fabric in the upper area. 1/16/03 10:08 AM
Gigi Louis said... Thank you all for your nice comments! :-) Sewnew, I find Loes' patterns to be very easy to sew. You could start with the European pant in the pull-on version and then do the fly-fronts. The Cowl Top is super easy and great looking too. 1/16/03 10:13 AM

Susan Parker said... I found the fly confusing, too, so I just cut it off and used Peggy Sagers' separate fly method. Worked well. I didn't plan for the zip to be up so high though into the waistband area. I'm going to make these again now that I have a better clue as to how to alter my pattern before I do any cutting--I used these as a "fit as you go". What i got is wearable but it could be better. It is a nice style as I have a similar figured thighs as Gigi. Makes a nice smooth, long line. Thanks for the insightful review. 1/17/03 5:08 PM
Sherril Miller said... Gigi, how wide is the leg? I don't look good in anything wider than 16" at the hem. I know you are a couple of inches taller than I am and a couple of sizes smaller. 1/19/03 2:17 PM
Gigi Louis said... Sherill, the circumference on the medium is about 21" - these pants fall straight down from the hip. 1/19/03 2:59 PM
Gigi Louis said... Cripe, I really messed up your name this morning - so sorry. I KNOW it's two Rs and one L, I just got a little ahead of myself with the typing. Duh on me. 1/19/03 3:00 PM
Sherril Miller said... Gigi, I don't know how my parents came up with this spelling for Cheryl. I don't care how anybody spells it, just as long as you say it right. So on the computer, you're safe. I just ordered this pattern. I think I will try to narrow the leg before I cut out the pattern. How much difference is there between the hip and waist measurement? My waist measures close to my hip measurements, so elastic pants works well for me. 2/2/03 4:33 PM
Gigi Louis said... Sherril, there isn't much difference between the waist and hip - great for me too because I don't have much of a hip curve. 2/2/03 7:54 PM
