Hi, Pat. Your URL link did not work: try substituting this: http://www.simplicity.com/designFrame.cfm?designId=6807&design=7217. I looked at this pattern. I am short & small, and I don't think it would work for me either based on your description. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review! It's nice to see a summer dress while in the thoes of a cold winter! I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

What was your first choice pattern? This pattern looks great on the envelope, makes it more disappointing. I am wondering about that front pleat does it stick out (make my tummy look fat)? What if it was made in a softer drapey fabric. The button placket detail looked interesting.

Thanks for the review. So the placket/opening is fake but you have to do just as much work as if it was real? Is that right? It seems a bit unfair!

Hi Pat - YAY another aussie! Thanks for the review. Good tip on the appropriate fabric.

It's a shame this didn't work for you; the pattern looks relatively easy and very cool and summery. It looks and sounds like it needs fabric with a really soft drape, though. Maybe you could give it another whirl and let us know?

thank you for all your comments. I have fixed up the pattern photo. My first choice was Simplicity 7218, which would be better in cotton. The material was a bad choice, but there are limited fabrics availble in town. I felt the placket was too much trouble, but it probably less trouble than a shaped facing.
