They look pretty darn good so far! Isn't that waistband a straight piece? A contoured waistband might fit you much better than a strip.

You did a great job. I 100% agree with your assessment of this pattern. It runs really large (go down a size) and the zipper instructions are not good. I split the waistband at the center back for easier adjustments. But otherwise a nice pattern. Your results look good.

Good review--I'd been wondering about this pattern but the inner voice was saying "no", guess it was right.

Cathy, I think though, that this pattern is probably the best starting place. Jeans are HARD, and getting a fresh look and a comfortable pair is going to be I think quite the process with any pattern.
