I laughed at your comment about your husband buying you a serger~ my dh bought me one a few years ago and I only within the last year started using it regularly :o) but it was definately well spent, my sewing has really gotten much better(not to mention faster and easier) because of it. Does your "bulky overlook foot" have cut outs on the bottom, for "riding" over and holding the piping in place? My Kenmore has a foot like that, and it worked just great on cording for pillows and even gathered cording, as I recall, for a duvet cover made some years ago.
