Rhonda Noah said... How adorable! I have this pattern and planned to sew it up once or twice this year. I didn't expect a bunch of hand sewing though; what needs to be hand sewn? I love the seersucker, btw. One of my favorite fabrics for kids clothes! The dragonfly is pretty, too. Just like RTW! 3/1/03 6:57 PM

So many patterns today have a minimum of hand sewing, but on this one, as to be expected I guess, the front has an entire facing that needs to be sewn from the neckedge down to the bottom of the bodice, around and back up the other side. The hem also and there is quite a bit of gathering. I enjoy handsewing, but if you don't , there really isn't anyway to avoid it with this pattern. I put the zipper in per the instructions which was once the dress was completely constructed (except for sewing the facing down) and it was a bit awkward. On an adult size, it wouldn't have been so tight. 3/1/03 7:22 PM
