I really like the look of view B. I'm not that experienced with types of fabrics; what do you think is the correct weight for this pattern?

A proper matte jersey would work well - kind of light to medium weight - the top of the skirt is basically a rectangle with a hole in it, but two layers of fabric, so if it's too heavy it drags down at the sides a little too much, and doesn't drape as well as it should. Hope this helps!
