Just out of curiosity, what is a chafe guard?

A chafe guard keeps thighs from chafing in hot weather. I'd like to be more comfortable when not wearing tights or pantyhose when it's 100F in the shade.

I made "boy shorts: from a swimsuit pattern out of cotton rib knot (like mens undie material) and it has a crotch sewn in, I think this may be a good option for a chafe guard, as they are snugger in the thigh so there is less to bind. The pattern # is mcalls 3566. I use latex free elastic so there is less to irritate sensitive skin. :)
