I had one that really stood out. It had a very stiff horse hair type netting. I could stand it up in a corner. When I went away to college the dorm closets were so small that we had to pile up the petticoats in a corner of the room.

I also remember the petticoats that we wore in the 50s. They certainly made you feel dressed up. We called them crinolins (sp?). I'm sure yours would be much more comfortable, although you would have needed several more layers of netting to make those felt skirts stand out. 9/8/07 11:31 AM
Grammy Gin said... Nice petticoat. I too, wore the crinolines. The more starch & the stiffer you made it, the better it looked under those full skirts. You brought back nice memories for a few of us, thanks, Kellie. 9/8/07 4:47 PM

I looked at my wedding gown "slip" before making this retro one and decided not to use the super stiff tulle for this particular project. I had this pattern on hand and whipped it up. However, I do plan on doing a full-out-stiff-POUFFY one - after I buy myself a real vintage crinoline pattern! 9/8/07 5:28 PM
