Good for you for hanging in there. This is very cute. If both sides of your fabric are the same, you don't need to worry about how you lay your pattern, except for the grain line. And even if they aren't the same, you could have been making a style change by having one side different. See what I mean! The pattern is our guide, not our Home Ec teacher, ready to grade us down if we don't do everything exactly as she says.

Excellent result. If this is shorter than the pattern indicated, you might want to check your back neck to waist measurement. You may be long waisted and need to adjust future patterns.
