Could you post the picture in the review so we can see it bigger? I am making this pattern right now, and haven't gotten to the bodice yet. I am going to use zip ties instead of boning, and add more boning channels throughout. Did you find that your skirt was unfinished where the tie comes out?

It was two years since I sewed the skirts, I just checked the wool skirt, I folded back the opening where the twill tape exists, and topstiched the edge, before flipping the waistband and sewing it. The black bodice I was not entirely happy with, as removing the darts according to online suggestions for more historical accuracy, was not so simple to get the right fit. Zip ties are suggested by some; on black bodice I used rigilene, which seems better than boning.
