12/5/07 11:06 AM
Dear Ms. Cidell, I do so admire your work and this one is no exception. It looks beautiful on you. It has a HOOD? Maybe I'll see that when I check back at your blog (I'm a reader). How much time did you give yourself for this project? I have been in the "hot needle and burnt thread" club myself for sewing things up while heading out the door.
12/5/07 11:15 AM
WOW- what a knockout. You look fantastic!

12/5/07 2:26 PM
Cidell, OMG! As my daughter would say, "prettiful". I followed your progress on your blog and was impressed then, boning, silk organza and all. But you knocked this one out of the box. Sewn beautifully and worn beautifully.
12/5/07 2:33 PM
Gorgeous! Befitting a equally talented & goreous person. I so enjoy reading your reviews and blog about your trumphants and trials via yr sewing adventures. Thanks for posting

12/5/07 3:54 PM
Already commented on your blog, but once again: this is an awesome dress. Great work!
12/5/07 3:56 PM
Ooooooooo la la! Impressive. I will read up on it in more painstaking detail (because I need all the details) on your blog. Does it make you feel like a grown up?-- a glamourous one? (I had to ask, as a little girl I always thought I would spend evenings in beautiful gowns when I grew up.-- Unfortunately, I spend most all of them in flannel pajama pants and tshirts) You are very talented. I want to say I have read your blog and seen your work and you have been an amazing seamstress for a very long time before this gorgeous dress.
12/5/07 4:20 PM
the dress is amazing, you're amazing!
12/5/07 4:21 PM
Truly beautiful dress, and you have the perfect figure for it!! Absolutely stunning!!!
12/5/07 4:59 PM

12/5/07 5:06 PM
Yay! For the dress! It came out gorgeous in color, fit, and style. I love the flowers.
12/5/07 5:12 PM
You can sew anything!! Your dress is gorgeous and you look fantastic in it.
12/5/07 7:42 PM
Oh, Cidell, this is just BEAUTIFUL. Hmmmm, silk, boning, underlining, organza: Doesn't this qualify you at the courture rating now? I've often regretted getting rid of an unused pattern myself, only later to buy ANOTHER one, so what was the point? I've since decided I'll get rid of something ELSE, but not the patterns. I hope I stick to it. Not many people can wear "negative ease" very well, but you certainly do. In my case, it'd be like that joke Dolly Parton told after the Super Bowl "wardrobe malfunction: "If I have a wardrobe malfunction, I'm taking out the first five rows." Great review, and I enjoyed your blog, as well.
12/5/07 8:14 PM
I love the color and added details. You look like you definitely stood out in the crowd. Very pretty!!
12/5/07 8:26 PM
Ooooo - you are "Cidell-rella" in this gown! But then, you would look great in a gunnysack :-)

Wow, you look marvelous!!! Love the color and you WEAR that dress.
12/6/07 8:21 AM
Oh, don't worry Cydell - life's too short to regret every pattern gone. You wouldn't have had time to make more than one this year anyway, and you certainely couldn't have gotten anything more fabulous :-). The fit is superb, the dress is gorgeous, the roses are amazing and the hood...!! I'd have preferred it in orange myself, just to put in a dissenting note :-). But I'm me and you're you, and you're certainly the most glamorous thing to hit that party in decades I'm sure :-).
12/6/07 9:14 AM

Ooooh Cidell, you are absolutely gorgeous in your beautiful creation! Since I've joined PR & lurking, I've admired your sewing skills. You've always been able to sew, IMHO. I think you should upgrade your sewing to at least advanced! You should be on the runway! ;-)

This was worth every second you put into it. You look absolutely gorgeous. I love the color on you, and the muslins were worthwhile because the fit is excellent! It isn't often that a learning experience looks this fabulous. But what are you going to give us to read about now that you're done? You need another killer project!
12/6/07 1:51 PM

Beautiful dress, I learned the hard way about zippers and interfacing in formal wear as well. Very annoying.... at least if you learn from your mistakes you won't make them again!!
