Mariko said... Thank you for your comments. Anne, yes, my new serger is great! For now, mostly I use just basic 4 thread stitch, but I will learn more. Sherril, I went to Kwik Sew's web, but it might be new and I could not find it, either. The number is right. This pattern is on one of the several front pages of Kwik Sew catalog. 4/7/03 0:02 AM

You did a great job with the alterations - you really can't tell that you've made so many - the design flows very nicely and the sleeves look nice and smooth. 4/7/03 9:11 PM

Do you think I could shorten the sleeves to 3/4 length easily? I wonder about that slit and the sleeve flaps flapping around under the elbow... 5/1/03 0:54 AM
Mariko said... Shoiley, I am sure you can shorten the sleeve length. Because I made huge alteration on my sleeve (such that it did not keep the original shape), it is hard for me to recommend how you could alter in which way. But, a key is to keep the finish measurement in your mind. You may know it, but let me say just in case, do not chop off the extra length. Measure the finish sleeve hem and draw a pattern so that you will have enough room around the hem. I also learned this from other experienced fellow sewers here, I definitely recommend a book titled "Fit for Real People" by Pati Palmer and Marta Alto for basic alteration. Good luck!!! 5/2/03 3:32 AM
Shoiley said... I am almost done View A of this top. I am very inexperienced, so I don't know what is meant by the last instruction of "overcast bottom edge of top." Do I fold the bottom under 1/8" and overcast? And then I'm supposed to fold a 3/8" hem, press, pin, stitch; but there is a lot of curve, so how can I do this without creases? Thanks... 6/22/03 9:17 PM
