Thanks for the review. I have this on my project list, and appreciate the additional input. What didn't you like about the pattern's sleeve placket?

Wow, high praise indeed if your 16 YO liked it! I have this pattern but haven't tried it yet -- thanks for the heads up about the sleeve vents. It seems like another reviewer also didn't like them.

AnneM: The pattern has just a narrow hem on the underlap side, and the placket for the overlap seemed awkward to fold neatly. Since I've done sleeve plackets before, I thought it was easier to go back to the style I already understand. Also, DH has some RTW shirts with just a narrow hem on the underlap side and they seem to end up fraying.

I have just ordered this pattern to make my husband a pattern and had just pulled out my David Coffin book to review. Can you explain more about the error in Coffin's placket? Do I needed to add 1/4" all around the outside of his pattern?

Catherine: The problem with the placket pattern in Coffin's book (p.72) is that the seam allowances should be 1/4", but some are 3/8" and some are between 1/4" and 3/8". Also, all the widths marked A should be 1/2", but they aren't exactly, and the two widths marked B should be 1" but one is slightly less! So you really have to redraw it. The text description is correct. I hope this helps.

Interesting ideas there... definitely worth looking at that pattern again.

More pieces of information on this! And I still haven't used this pattern yet.
