Skymom said... I love this pattern, but still haven't gotten my first attempt to fit. I had to alter a bit for smaller waist/larger thighs (based on flat pattern measuring--the size that corresponded to my hip measurement appeared to have no ease!!). So I did that alteration, assembled the pants up to attaching the waist binding, tried them on, they were huge around the waist. I took in the darts a total of at least 2 inches, which seemed to fit nicely, put on the binding, and still--much too big. At that point I realized that the crotch length was the problem, and that I need to take out about 2 vertical inches somewhere around the mid-hip range on the pattern. To save my project I'll eventually remove the waist binding, take out the zipper, remove length from the top, readjust the darts, and finish the waist. I think I need to get someone else to do the pin-fitting, though, since I obviously didn't manage to get it right when I tried! I hope I can get it to work--these are a very flattering style: sleek through the waist and hips and relaxed through the leg. 6/3/03 10:56 AM

Maria, I just made linen capris from another neue mode pattern and even though I made my usual alterations and was careful to staystich the fabric still expanded and the pants are a little loose. Since its such a loose weave that's bound to happen. Just something to keep in mind for your next version. I also have black linen in stash and your pants are really inspiring me to make one for myself too. What did you decide to do for the waistband? 6/4/03 10:21 AM

Deepika - I just bought another linen to make up in this pattern - they are wonderfull to wear - It has been extreemily hot here today (for danes - that is, about 27 celcius = 81 fahrenheit, but then the humidity is about 90 or 95 %) and the pany´ts were great - It doesn't matter if they are a little loose - I have gotten many compliments on the fit - really extraordinary, as noone ever (at my job) comments on clothes... And they are very comfortable! I say gop for it! I might deepen the side darts with about 1 cm each.
About the waistband - I just made it like the instructions said, but I didn't use the pattern, and measured out instead - 4 cm wide and then the leght of the waist (which I measured on the pant - I thought that when I lowered the waist, the measurements might change...
Skymom - try them again - they are really great!
And to all - thanks for your comments - I am soo proud of me!! - and even more so, everytime I get complimentet on the pants, and people don't even know I made them myself - even the kids in school (11 yo) like them, and want some... and that is the biggest compliment one can get - these children are *mean* ! ;-) 6/4/03 1:35 PM

Maria, to make a link clickable, type right after the URL, whatever you want to show in the text (like 'Click Here') next, and finish up with . (I had to type it in kinda weird so the computer doesn't think I'm trying to put in a link). Hopefully that will work! Nice fitted waist one seams -- haven't seen these before! Thanks for the review!
