Great job on your first bodice. Cleanly inserting a full-length zipper evenly can be a challenge for the best of us. Good for you aspiring to the invisible zipper next. Pattern instructions are often lacking in details so it's best that you also invest in some good reference material to supplement them.

What a lovely dress. Very flattering, and I totally agree: one can never have too many boat necks. They are so chic. Do you know what? I actually find inserting invisible zips easier than the normal ones. But Busy Mom is right: patterns often don't explain the process very well.

I like the button tab too, might try that one. Good job thinking of that to save your work and add something to make it special. You might try basting the seam closed and basting the zip in place to make sure things are lined up before finally stitching them in. Also, using a longer zipper than required, keeping the pull tab well out of the way so your stitching isn't thrown out of line helps. Be sure you un-zip it (basting now removed) and pull the stop down before trimming off the extra zipper tape.

Well done, and long may you sew!

Absolutely charming dress and irresistible in the navy you've chosen. Bananaoil has illuminated the way to get a perfect zipper installation, but your button tab cover was inspired. Congratulations on your first and I look forward to seeing many more of your creations in the future, and welcome to PR. Lovely, Lily
