I appreciate your review of this skirt, which is one I have in my pattern stash and hope to make someday (within a year or two?). To comment on the wider seam allowances....I have read that couture sewing in many cases uses wider than ususal to help shape and support the whole garment, facilitating its way of hanging or "draping." Your skirt here looks lovely and well put together. It may feel "funny" but might be worth getting used to as it might be one aspect in making the garment look so good when being worn.
