Kathy - I checked your bio and see you don't have a serger. The pattern directions state to serge raw edges on the neckline, sleeve and bottom hems. Your Janome should have an overedge and/or multi-stitch zig-zag stitch you could use instead of serging.

Kathy, I would think so. While I was sewing it up, I was thinking I should recommend this top to a couple of teens I know who are just starting to sew. There are shoulder and side seams, the neckline is a fold down so no facings or bias bindings to manipilate and the hems on the sleeves and bottom are also simple fold-ups. The sleeves are sewn on prior to sewing the side seams - a technique I always find easier than stitching in the round. The sleeve caps are smooth so there is no easing of fabric to worry about. I would warn a beginner that the pattern only allows for 1/4 inch seams so there is no room to adjust the pattern larger once the fabric is cut.
