Great pattern, your version is super. Can't wait to see the final version. FWIW, I think the pattern dates from the early 'thirties as vests, the flat, pancake-like hat style, and flat hair puffs over the ears, were popular early in the decade. I'm pretty sure it's not forties; the proportions are definitely earlier. Sue

Thanks moushka, I'm no good with dating patterns, the ebay listing said 40s, so that's what I was thinking, but you're right, it does look a lot more 30s. Awesome as I've really been feeling that decade lately.
