Naomi said... Thanks for the details, Ann! I've only made one veil, as part of my youngest sister's mini-bride get-up. (Yes, she wore this in another sister's real live legally-binding wedding.) Fortunately, the veil was forgotten at the hotel that morning. IMNSHO, the tiara alone sufficed. Should I ever need to sew a serious veil, I'll come back to your review! 7/17/03 6:31 PM

I was contemplating making my veil since they are so expensive, but ended up not having the time to figure out how to do it. I found an online source that makes veils to order and got mine for about $40 (still expensive, but much more reasonable than the bridal store wanted). 7/17/03 10:27 PM

Very pretty, though I can't help but wonder if there are siimilar rules for a "happy hour" veil. ;-) When I married, I bought my headpiece (a small pillbox with blusher veil) from a local boutique for about $30 and my dress was actually a mother-of-the-bride creme colored lace suit for about $150. I can't imagine paying $350 for tulle after those lucky buys! Can't wait to see the pics. 7/18/03 4:05 PM

I did something similar for a friend, but very last minute and with copious use of a hot glue gun. If only I had known how easy it is, I would have done the veil thing myself. 7/18/03 5:01 PM

moushka said... Ann, thanks for the detailed instructions. I made DD's wedding veil last summer, gathering the tulle as you described here. Worked like a charm :-) The hardest part was cutting out the curved shape DD wanted. We found a beautiful scalloped rhinestone hairband on eBay for $16. Voila! Headpiece and veil for under $25. The retail prices are ridiculous. I'd happily sew a veil every day if I could charge what the stores do ;-) 1/9/07 9:53 PM
