thanks for the trip down memory lane - I sewed this dress a few years ago and still wear it all summer long. Your dress is lovely and so '30s looking! As a note to some of the things you noticed - I gathered the skirt on mine, and it's a very slight gathering to give you a little wearing ease. It's not a noticeably gathered/ruffly waist. I like your idea to mix up the gathered part at the shoulders with an overlay - and I look forward to seeing your forthcoming variations!
