Wanda, aren't the shoulders too big in this pattern?

No, I did not find that the shoulders were to big in this pattern. However, I must add that my shoulders are broad.

Deepika - If this pattern is like some other S&S, the designer includes a template that changes the shoulders and armhole for the sleeveless view. If you are interested in a leeveless dress, then the shoulders would probably be OK, since there would be no provision for shoulder pads in the sleeveless garment.

Wanda, I keep looking at this pattern, but like Deepika, wonder about the shoulders. I love the long sleeved and short sleeved versions. Since I have small shoulders (at least compared to the rest of me:)) I'm a bit worried about this pattern also

P.S. This dress sounds so beautiful. Please try and post a picture. Thanks!

Ann, For your concern about the shoulders, just follow whatever procedure or technique you are currently using for shoulder adjustments, provided that's needed. Worrying about this pattern is not something that should be done. It is to elegant to do so! Ann, To-date, I have not connected my scanner to the PC I use most regularly so, I do not envision doing that anytime soon. In-fact, I've just started taking photographs of garments that I make! Thanks for asking.

Thanks for the personal note Wanda. I'll be adding this pattern to my next Stretch N Sew order!

Wanda, this sounds beautiful and classic. Do you recommend the bust dart for all sizes? I used to have a black short sleeve dress similar to this. I would love to make a black wool one this fall.

Fear not about the shoulder width. If you are using S&S patterns correctly, your shoulder point may be on a different size than the bust, waist, and hip areas. In fact, when I've used S&S patterns, as a pear-shaped person, my tracings use at least 4 sizes!

Peggy, I am the least qualified person I know of when it comes to addressing bust darts! I just know that being larger than a B cup when I add them, as is the case with this pattern, the fit is just so, so much better. As far as a black wool dress, I believe this pattern will be elegant if it is made in a black wool crepe. For me I would underline and line it. This would be a dress that will 'never' go out of style and well worth the investment in terms of underlining and lining. I am making it again (now) in the short sleeve version. It is from a black gauzy-like (if there is such a word!) silk dupioni. After wrestling with the silk dupioni and silk organza for the underlining it is coming together quite well. I just need to do the lining. Then, I'm going to try one of the independent pattern companies for the jacket, which one, as of now I do not know. It will be made from a similar black silk dupioni with 'bold' somewhat large white circles!! I'm kind of excited. Now, I just need to find somplace to wear it to ;-} Go for the black wool crepe.

Sounds like you are working on another winner! Thanks for the tips - I am a "C" cup so would need the dart.

Just now checking out S & S reviews. I couldn't find 1511. Is it OOP?
