Let me recommend power stretch for winter cycling - you don't sweat because they're not wind-proof, but you can go below freezing in perfect comfort. Perfect stretch too, soft inside and abrasion-resistant outside that won't pill at the butt. Just be sure to get real malden mills..

And if you do get the powerstretch, a light pair of windproof fabric pants overtop makes a perfect combination for many outdoor winter activities.
