The front wraps about to the middle of the back of your leg, likewise with the front. You could easily increase it if you wanted to. I found it to be quite decent, you just have to do a good edge finish! 8/16/03 10:51 AM

I guess mine didn't wrap as far as they should have, or maybe you shouldn't wear this kind of thing to take a toddler on an outing. Every time I had to stoop down, they opened up almost up to my hips! Oops. And, I must add, there were some complications in the ladies' room, where you practically have to undress...and yet I think they are a very wonderful alternative to a skirt or pants in warm weather--and could be pretty fascinating in the winter in a sheer fabric over fitted leggings. I'm glad there's a more successful version of them out there. 8/17/03 6:42 PM

Skymom, having taken my toddler out in them, I also discovered that the pants did open up higher when you squat , but they were still decent (until the famous Prairie winds blew), but even then, I was still covered. If you are worried about the opening, you could widen the leg further and then also add a fastener. As for bathroom time, I found that dropping the back was sufficient. All in all, it was worth it in the heat! 8/18/03 9:35 AM

Upon looking over the pattern pieces I noticed the front and back waistbands (which include the ties) seem awfully short. Did you lengthen them at all? Do the front ties hand down like the pants on the cover of the pattern? Thanks so much. 1/26/04 8:57 AM
Lorna C. Newman said... Susan, I did not lengthen the ties at all. They seemed to be an OK length in that I had enought to tie in front and bacl and they only hung down about 4-5". Long enough not to get in the way of anything. I think the model had longer ties as she had a smaller front therefore had more to tie and less to lie on the front.
As I said in the review, the only problem I had was the knots firming up throughout the day. For the front, I may add a row of buttons on either side of the CF and add some button holes on a shortened front ties to alleviate this.
Hope this helps! 1/28/04 8:34 AM
