Sounds like the cut is for a particular type of build (which doesn't happen to be yours!). At least it went together easily for you.

A larger picture would help, but it looks very nice from what we can see. It's hard to sew for someone else.

If the sleeves bind it could be that the armhole is too large or hangs off the shoulder too much. A smaller armhole can make all the difference.

Since this top is for someone I have never seen, I'll just wait until she tries it on. It probably did not work for me because I usually add some width to my sleeves but followed the pattern exactly on this one.
