Keep at it with PMB - it is very powerful but has its quirks and there is definitely a learning curve. It sounds like you have not set your defaults (i.e. what is shorts length) and some of the problems, like the back crotch fit, are due to the fact you haven't worked through the muslin fitting process. Once you do you will be much more satisfied.

Hee, what a fun project. Costumes are a nice low pressure way to try out new things. That one is a smash!

I also am new to PMB and have printed out the dress to muslin but have not gotten to it yet. Very nice job and I have to agree with the previous commenter about the old style bathing suit look to it-- I like!
