It's really cute, LornaJay! I would make the next one a little larger in width to accomodate your notepad. I think that will prevent the puckering. Good job!

I have had a brainwave (amazing what you think of when trying to settle a teething baby between midnight and 1am!). My crayon pockets don't reach down the full depth of the front - and I suspect that this may be why the fabric is pulling. I will need to shorten the inner quilting fabric by 2 cm or so, and see how the next one looks.
