I am glad to see this, I have been meaning to make it for my hubby. I followed your link-thanks for all the closeups. I was wondering how the ribbon worked. In the cuffs, you can "cheat" by putting in elastic and just sewing lacing to the ends. I have found that more rugged lacing such as middy braid works well, bacause satin type ribbons are usually to slippery to stay closed. Even a shoe lace could be used.

Thank you for the excellent review and pictures! My DH wants to make these pants for our upcoming ren faire (with my supervision, of course!) and it's good to hear that it's doable, though challenging, for a beginner. you did a fantastic job - I hope your dad loved it!
