|Pattern Description: artistically draped dress with boat neck|
Pattern Sizing:I made a 38/40, my regular size in BWOF
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes, except the collar is not as low.
Were the instructions easy to follow? OK. I recommend Tany's blog for pictures. The sewing is not difficult, once you work out what goes where.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? simple to sew, few pieces, yet with such impact!
Fabric Used:grey marle cotton lycra knit
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:Took off 5cm from upper front, back to shorten bodice, 5cm from skirt hems, 5cm off sleeve hem. Extended L lower front facing to L side seam for modesty, took in side seams under armhole to hips for more shaping.
The collar is reduced in width by 5cm and needed to be on crossgrain to squeeze it out of the fabric.
Tippi Hendren dress, dress form
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? yes to both, its lines are best displayed in plain fabrics. Here is another - purple dot dress, only difference is that the front skirt pieces are self lined, can be worn with tights without needing a slip.
aubergine ellipse dress
Conclusion: a stylish, comfortable dress, easy to throw into a trunk and fly away for a weekend in a fashion conscious European capital city...
