Nikki, to judge from other reviews, this certainly seems to be a faithful workhorse of a pattern.

Nice looking tops, Nikki. I particularly like the stretch velvet.

Yep Nikki, the shorter length IS more flattering. Fit for Real People tells us to put a hem at a narrower area where you want to draw attention. I think I like the 5"shorter velvet version best! I shorten my tops to high hip; they look great, but I can't reach up without getting a breeze. The red version on the low hip is more warm, and my preferred compromise length for my build.
