Lovely and flattering dress - really that much fabric?!

Natasha, size 12 (my normal size) calls for 5.5m of 115cm fabric on the envelope for view A. I bought 6m, as the fabric was a bit skinny - 110cm, which seems to be coming more common at Spotlight - no doubt this helps their margins, if not ours! I used every skerrick of the fabric, as I self lined the bodice and cut out double the sash, as described in the review. I had to cut some of the lining on cross grain to fit things in. I made smaller sleeves, and had no collar, so really, that much fabric! It is the 8 pieces + 8 gores for the skirt that does it.

Beautiful dress! It looks great on you! I have this pattern in my stash and I've wanted to make it for some time, but it takes so much fabric that I've just been putting it off. I might just have to reconsider.

This is a great dress. I've never noticed the pattern before and I can't think why. Don't know if I have that much fabric squirreled away in stash, but once my fabric diet is over, this might cause me to purchase some. Beautiful result and it looks wonderful on you.

This is just gorgeous! And the fit is perfect. I wish I had made this one instead of the McCall's wrap dress I just cut out. Love the gores, the cross over... everything about this design. And you look just beautiful.
