Very nice review and I really like how the fullness of the skirt is distributed. I'll bet it looks better on than you think. I especially appreciate the links for the narrow hem foot as I've never used mine.

Nice basic skirt. It gives you a background to play with "exciting" fabric, something with an abstract, bold design is possible. Then a basic semi-fitted jacket. The simplicity of the jacket and skirt will allow the top to be the focal point. This will also bring attention to your face.

I don't think it looks "blah" (but them I don't exactly live at fashion's cutting edge LOL) -- I think it makes a great backdrop for some smashing tops! Very nice review, and congrats on getting one more UFO into the FO closet!
