Everyday Sewist said... Gigi, I'm currently making the A-line from the Textile Studios skirt wardrobe. It sounds very similar or possibly the same as this one. I'm wondering--when you pin-fit, do you first stay-stitch the waistline? I'm wanting to pin-fit mine, but I'm worried I might stretch it out. But then I'm not sure how stay-stitching would affect the elastic waistband finish. (I'm using rayon crepe.)
Great idea to use stretch velvet and I like the boots too. 11/14/03 9:14 AM

SANDI DEVOY said... I love this pattern, and most of Loes patterns, but I too found it very long, and I am 5'5". My solution was a three inch instead of a two inch hem. It gives the skirt a more finished look than her usual 3/8. I will have to try your waist treatment next time. 11/14/03 10:17 AM

Gigi Louis said... You're all too kind! :-) Betty, I do not staystich the waist since that would interfere with the stretch of the fabric and I wouldn't be able to get it over my hips. You only need to staystitch with a woven.
Lizzy, I've simply removed all the excess ease in the waist/high hip area. Because the fabric stretches you don't need all that fabric. Then, when the elastic is sewn in there are no gathers.
DianeE, please copy me - I'd be flattered! :-) 11/15/03 6:16 AM
